NYWES HISTORY

Nikki Walker is a native of Montgomery, Alabama where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1998. She then went on to graduate from South University as a Medical Assistant in May of 1999.

Nikki’s first job in the medical field was at Jackson hospital in September of 1999 as a Med Tech. When she arrived at the hospital there was no positions available which is how she ended up in the Lab. With the guidance of her more experienced coworkers at that time, she succeeded in this area and was even quoted by these same coworkers as “having found her calling.” Her other places of employments included Quest Diagnostics from 2002 to 2006 as a Phlebotomist Supervisor.  Nikki was also employed by Southern Diagnostics as a Lead Phlebotomist from 2006 to 2010. After these successful stints in the medical field, Nikki Walker held true to her vision and formed NYWES.

NYWES was established in 2009. The name itself pays homage to Nikki’s children, Aniya and Wesley. The first phlebotomy class was held in Montgomery, Alabama on November 4, 2009 with only 5 students. After growth and perseverance, NYWES added classes in Biloxi Mississippi in 2011. NYWES also obtained their first big contract in 2011 with Jackson Hospital by providing mobile phlebotomy services, the first of its kind.

Due Nikki’s devotion and dedication, by 2012 NYWES expanded its services to various nursing homes, Outreach and Main Lab, and the Doctors office at 1801 in Montgomery, Alabama. By 2015 to present, NYWES has added nursing support tech, EKG, medical billing and coding, and most recently Pharmacy Tech in addition to online courses. To date, NYWES is located in various locations across the south eastern United States.

Nikki’s professionalism and tireless efforts have allowed her company to help, aide and assist in the graduation of over 1,200 students as well as employment opportunities.
