Nikki Walker

NyWes Founder

A native of Montgomery, AL, Nikki Walker, founder of NyWes Foundation and NyWes Education, graduated from Robert E. Lee High School (1998) and obtained her Medical Assistant (M.A.) license upon graduation from South University (1999). Following her passion for healthcare, her first job in the medical field was as a Medical Technologist in the lab at Jackson Hospital (1999) because there were no M.A. positions available at that time. With the guidance of her more experienced co-workers, she flourished in this area and found great success. In fact, coworkers told her she “had found her calling”. As her career progresses, she worked as a Phlebotomist Supervisor with Quest Diagnostics (2002-2006) followed by a position as Lead Phlebotomist at Southern Diagnostics (2006-2010). After these successful positions in the medical field, Nikki Walker held true to her vision – she became a role model for others, so she formed NyWes.

Established in 2009, the NyWes name pays homage to her children, Aniya and Wesley. The first NyWes phlebotomy class was held in Montgomery, AL on November 4, 2009, with only five students. After growth and perseverance, NyWes added classes in Biloxi, MS (2011) and obtained the first big contract with Jackson Hospital (2011) to provide mobile phlebotomy services.

Due to Nikki’s devotion and dedication, by 2012, NYWES expanded its services to various nursing homes, labs, and doctors offices in Montgomery, AL. By 2015 to present, NyWes has added courses for Nursing Support Tech, EKG, Medical Billing & Coding, and most recently Pharmacy Tech to the online menu of courses. Today, NyWes is located in three states (AL, MI, FL) in the Southeastern United States.
